Tuesday. Jan-5, 1892-The Rev. A- Dawson, Rector of Seagoe, was on this day appointed to the Archdeaconry of Dromore in succession to late Archdeacon Francis King D. D (Incumbent of St. Patrick’s, Newry), by B’p. W’m Reeves D. D, B’p of Down & Connor & Dromore, who died on 12th January following.
B’p Reeves thus restored to the rectory of Seagoe the distinction after Archdeaconry of Dromore which was connected with Seagoe for at least 600 years, until the then B’p of Down (Knox), in 1879, appointed Rev. Henry Stewart D. D, Rector of Seapatrick (Banbridge) there to in succession to Archdeacon Saurin.
On Wednesday, Feb:10, 1892, Rev, A. Dawson was instituted by His Grace the Lord Primate ( Dr. R. B. Knox) at the Palace Armagh, during the vacancy after Rev. Dawson was installed in Dromore Cathedral by the Very Rev’d The dean of Dromore (Dr Campbell) on the following Sunday 14th February.
