19001203 3rd December 1900 Select Vestry meeting

On 3 December 1900 a meeting of the Select Vestry was held in Seagoe School House. The Very Rev. The Dean of Dromore in the Chair – also present Geo. Calvert, James Collins, John Montgomery, Robert Wolsey, Joseph Monro, James Albin and N. R. Atkinson.

Proposed by Geo. Calvert, seconded by James Collins that Mr Wilson Irwin be elected to fill the vacancy on the Select Vestry arising from the lamented death of the late the Archibald MacKenzie.

The making of a boundary fence between the Parish lands and the property of Rev. Canon Blacker was discussed and the following Committee appointed to see same carried out in a satisfactory manner, on the proposal of N. R. Atkinson, seconded by James Albin, namely Geo. Calvert, James Collins, Nelson Irwin, Robert Wolsey, Joseph Murray and N. R. Atkinson. The dimensions of gripe to be 3ft 6in and ditch 3ft by 3ft.

The above Committee was also appointed to superintend the erection of School Master’s house.

Treasurer was requested to pay Dr. Quirk’s salary for 2 months ending, Dec 1900.

The following resolution was proposed by R. Wolsey, R. Atkinson and seconded by James Albin and adopted unanimously – That the Select Vestry of Seagoe desire to record the departure of Dr. Quirk? from the Curacy of this Parish, after nearly 20 years residence to take up his well merited appointment as Rector of the Parish of Magherally and that during his long service in Seagoe he has gained the respect and affection of all the Parishioners whose interests and welfare were his constant care and his faithful services will be long and gratefully remembered and will form a fitting example for imitation by any successor, particularly the great work he has for years carried on in the Edenderry portion of the Parish.
