At a Special Meeting of the Vestry of Seagoe Parish held on 3 Feb 1902, it was proposed by Mr. Thomas Stothers seconded by Mr James Albin and unanimously adopted.
Resolved that at this first meeting of Vestry since the lamented death of Mr. John Buckby Atkinson of Portadown, we desire to express our sincere regret at his demise, remembering gratefully the unfailing interest which he evinced in the welfare of this his native Parish, and his generous help, readily given to promote it; and we desire to present to Mrs Atkinson and family our respected condolence with them in their bereavement and our earnest prayer that the Father of Mercies and the God of all comfort , may comfort them in all their tribulation, for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Very Rev. The Dean of Dromore, in the Chair.

Dear Dean Dawson – Will you please accept my grateful thanks and convey the same to all the members of the Select Vestry for the Resolution of Sympathy passed at the Special Meeting held on 3 inst. I know that nowhere was regret more truly felt than by all my dear husband’s many friends in Seagoe, the Parish in which he has been always so very specially interested – when the news of his death became known. He has felt not only interest by affection for the Parishioners of Seagoe, and I thank all of them on behalf of our children and myself for the sympathy they have expressed and I know so truly feel for us on our sorrow. And please assure everyone the interest he always felt, will be kept up by his children, in their father’s birthplace and all who knew and loved him there.
Believe me Sincerely,
Mrs. Winnie C Atkinson, The Wolds, Pemberley Avenue, Bedford, Feb 9 th 1902
