19031030 30th October 1903 Select Vestry meeting

A meeting of the Select Vestry was held on Friday 30 Oct 1903, when there were present, the Very Rev’d. The Dean of Dromore (in the chair), Rev’d. W.T.Greg & Edward Jennings, George Calvert, James Collins-Joseph Monroe -W.T.McDowell -John Montgomery - Thos. J Montgomery-Thos. Stothers - James Albin W. Irwin & Mr R Atkinson.

The lease dated 24 Sep 1900 of Parochial Hall Edenderry from Thomas Armstrong Esq. to the trustees, the Very Rev’d A.Dawson, W.F.Armstrong and Wolsey.R.Atkinson, handed to the Dean, by consent of the Vestry, to be Deposited in Safe at Rectory, for safe custody, on the proposition of George Calvert, seconded by John Montgomery.

It was proposed by George Calvert, seconded by Mr W.T.McDowell that Richard Lutton’sa/c for School forms and Desk supplied for Seagoe School be paid, although same had not been sanctioned beforehand by the Vestry.

Mr Stothers, Schoolmaster having mentioned the inconvenience he was at for want of a proper supply of water for domestic use and the use of the scholars, on the proposition of Wilson Irwin, seconded by Thos. J. Montgomery, the following Committee was appointed- Messrs Geo Calvert, W.T.McDowell,Thos Stothers & Mr W.R. Atkinson & to select site for a Pump, order well to be sunk & see the work completed at a cost of about £7.

A discussion took place as to lighting Church with gas, when it was proposed by Geo Calvert, seconded by Thos. Stothers that the Secretary requests estimates from a few Plumbers for carrying out the project, so as to arrive at a decision, whether it might be practicable in view of the cost.

The narrowness of the footpath, near to & on lawn side of the Church, having been discussed, it was proposed by Thos. Stothers, seconded by John Montgomery that Mr Calvert should see some members of District Council, with having the matter remedied.
