19051010 10th October 1905 Select Vestry meeting

On 10 Oct 1905 a meeting of Select Vestry was held when there were present-Geo.Calvert- Ja’s Albin- Joseph Monroe-W. T. McDowell -John Montgomery- Rob’t Gracey -Thomas Martin - Joseph Murray- Wilson Irwin- David Rock- J. H. Stevenson & W. R. Atkinson.

In the unavoidable absence of the Clergy Mr. John Montgomery was voted to the Chair.

The meeting was summoned for the purpose of eliciting an expression of opinion as to nominating a suitable Incumbent to the Parish, in the place of our late Rector, The Very Rev’d, the Dean of Dromore and it was proposed by Mr. Joseph Murray & seconded by Mr. John Montgomery & passed unanimously that Rev’d James. E. Archer, the present Senior Curate be appointed to the Parish.

The Deputation to wait on the Dean and make the presentation, having been considered, it was proposed by Mr. J. H. Stevenson & seconded by Mr. David.Rock & passed unanimously that the members consist of the Churchwardens, Secretary, Geo. Calvert, W.Irwin & Thomas Martin.

An application was received from Miss Fannie Walker, Seagoe for liberty to practice Church Organ & the Secretary was instructed to inform her the consideration of the matter was deferred till next vestry meeting as the present meeting was of opinion it had not power to grant her request without the Incumbent’s knowledge & approval.
