THE PARISH SOCIAL.

The annual congregational re-union took place in

Seagoe School, on Thursday, January 26th, at 7.30 p.m.

The Rev. W. F. Hayes presided in the unavoidable absence

of the Rector owing to illness.

A sumptuous tea, provided by a band of ladies representative

of the parish gave the proceedings a good send off. Then

a most interesting programme followed and included a

very helpful address by the Rev. Canon A. W. M’Garvey,

M.A., Rector of Dromore, sacred solo by Miss Montgomery,

songs by Mr. Fairley, violin selections by Mr. Loney;

songs by Miss Martin; recitations by Miss S. Maginess;

comedy items by Mr. Jos. Hynes; songs by Mr. Norman

Lyttle; sketch by the pupils of Balleagh P.E.S. Miss T.

Wilson acted as accompanist.

In spite of the inclement weather, and counter attractions

there was a good attendance, and to all who helped to make

it the success it was we are deeply grateful.

CHOIR SOCIAL.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and Mr. G. Wilson entertained

the members of the choir with their usual lavish

hospitality on Tuesday, January 17th, in Seagoe School,

There were very few absentees. After tea, various

games were played and enjoyed by all until it was time

to go home.

The Rector, on behalf of the members of the Choir

conveyed their best thanks to the hosts for a most

enjoyable evening.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS' RE-UNION.

About forty of our Sunday School teachers met in

Seagoe School for the annual re-union on Friday,

January 20th, at 7.30 p.m. After tea, kindly provided

by lady teachers, the Rector gave a short talk on the

aims and importance of a Sunday School Teacher's

work. The preliminary details in connection with the

annual Sunday School Excursion were discussed. It

was decided to hold the Excursion (D.V.) on Thursday,

June 22nd, to Bangor.

It was also suggested that the fourth Thursday in

June be recognised as the date for Seagoe Parish in

future. It is hoped that on the Sunday previous to the

Excursion, i.e., Sunday morning, June 18th, all Sunday

School children of the Parish will assemble in Parish

Church for a special Children's Service.

When this business was dispatched all present joined

in the usual games. A most enjoyable and it is hoped

profitable evening was brought to a close by the singing

of "Auld Lang Syne" and the Blessing.

CONGRATULATIONS.

We congratulate Mr. Wm. Hutchinson on his election

as President of Lurgan sub-district of the Christion

Endeavour Union. Also Messrs. Roland Scott and

Wilson M'Kinney on their matriculation to Trinity

College, Dublin.

CHURCH LADS' BRIGADE.

HONORARY MEMBERS.

The Chaplains and Officers of Seagoe Company greatly

appreciate the helpful interest of our parishioners in the

Church Lads' Brigade. The object of the organisation

is “The Advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys.

To interest boys in Church work and to encourage them

to be good Churchmen and good citizens." Some friends

of the Brigade in Seagoe may be interested in the

Honorary Members' Association. Membership in this

branch of C.L.B. is open to persons who subscribe to

the funds of the Company or who assist the Company

in any other way. A special badge is provided by

General Headquarters for Honorary Members. These

badges are fitted so that they can be worn either as

a buttonhole badge for gentlemen or in the form of

a brooch for ladies.

The conditions of membership are defined as below:

(1) Entrance fee 1/6, in return for which they receive

a badge.

(2) To undertake to wear the badge on all convenient

occasions.

(3) To make an annual subscription to Company

funds of not less than 2/-.

(4) To assist the Brigade by personal service whenever

possible.

G.F.S. WORK PARTY.

It is thought that some of our parishioners would

welcome the opportunity of becoming more closely

connected with the Church Lads' Brigade and in this

way help in the splendid work that is being carried on

amongst our boys.

The Chaplains and Officers commend this suggestion

and would be glad to register the name of any parishioner

as an Hon. Member, who may be willing to act in this

capacity.

CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR.

OBITUARY

Since our last issue Mrs. Hill, of Century Street, has

been called to her Eternal Rest. She had been in failing

health for some time. To her sons we offer sympathy

in their sad bereavement.

LEVAGHERY SUNDAY SCHOOL.

The annual prize-giving social took place in

Levaghery on Wednesday, January 18th. There was

practically a fully attendance of pupils, and a number

of their parents and friends were present. A beautifully

decorated Christmas tree, from which each child

present received a gift, was a conspicuous feature of

the entertainment. Tea, followed by a programme of

games made the evening seem far too short. The Rev

W. F. Hayes distributed the gifts from the Christmas

tree, and Mrs. Appelbe distributed the prizes.

The Rector expressed his satisfaction on the flourishing

condition of the Sunday School, congratulated those

responsible for the social on the success of their efforts

on behalf of the children, and thanked the Superintendent

and Teachers for their valued cooperation and help during

the past year.

henceforth, yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest
